Care and Maintenance of CPAP / BiLevel / APAP and supplies

 

Basic information on the care of your CPAP and related supplies is provided here.  Please visit the manufacturer of your supplies for more specific information. 

Cleaning Your CPAP Mask:  Your mask should be cleaned daily with warm soap and water and allowed to air dry.  To view a short video on mask cleaning, download cleaning your CPAP mask [775 KB .wmv file]

Care of your headgear:  Headgear should be washed when soiled in mild detergent and allowed to air dry.:

Cleaning CPAP tubing:  Tubing should be cleaned daily with a 50/50 vinegar / water solution and hung to air dry in such a way that avoids water pooling inside the tubing itself.

Changing the CPAP filter:  Usually found in the back of the CPAP unit itself, the filter should be replaced according to manufacturer recommendation and / or when visibly soiled.

Humidifier cleaning and maintenance:  Humidifiers should be cleaned daily with a 50/50 vinegar / water solution and air dried.
